BLACK SNAKEROOT

This is a tall, showy, summer blooming herb. It grows best in moist soil that is not especially acidic and in partial shade.

HOSTAS

These are long time favorites with a great range of foliage and flowers.  They are great for the shade garden.  They can be grown in full sun, but must be watered.

FERNS

Grown for their foliage, ferns are unbeatable for providing an airy, light feeling to the shade garden.  Ferns need to be grown in partial to full shade.

ASTILBE

Astilbe is a feathery flower in a variety of colors that bloom in mid summer.  It has a bushy mound of furry foliage.  Great for the shade garden, Astilbes make excellent cut flowers when harvested half open.  Plant in partial shade and avoid hot and dry locations.

FOX GLOVES

A long time favorite, these are showy spikes of purple, pink, rose, or white flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer.   Best grown in a semi-shaded, filtered sun area.

PRIMROSE

The primrose is remarkable for a variety of vivid colors.  The large, bold blooms are on low growing plants with heavily veined leaves.  They have an eye catching, spring time color.  It works great for the front of borders, edging, and shade gardens.
